OMNI-CAT Winders automatically sync together with your printer, and mirror both the speed and direction of the printer. They intuitively change direction when the printer back-feeds thereby dramatically reducing any tension on the printer, while at the same time instinctively adjusting to achieve the tightest finish-roll possible. OMNI-CAT Winders also possess more torque than our previous generation of “smart” Winders, which enables them to easily handle rolls up to 16” in diameter, and labels up to 10” wide!

An unprecedented feature of the new OMNI-CAT Winders is a switch on the back that enables the operator to select from three different wind settings: Standard, Sync, and Bypass.

Standard
In this mode, the tension arm on the Winder acts as a start-stop mechanism that turns the Winder on and off as material is rewound, and intuitively switches the wind direction to match the printer. In this mode, the rewind speed is manually controlled through use of the speed dial on top of the Winder. This mode yields the tightest finish roll with the tension arm active.

Sync
In this mode, the tension arm on the Winder intuitively and imperceptibly matches both the speed and direction of the printer, and the up and down motion of the arm is minimal. In this mode, the speed dial on top of the Winder is deactivated. This mode is extremely smooth, and places the least amount of stress on the printer.

Bypass
In this mode, the tension arm is disabled, and material is wound directly onto the Winder. Both the speed and direction of the Winder are manually controlled by the speed dial and direction switches on top of the Winder. This mode yields an extremely tight finish roll, but is typically not recommended for in-line winding directly from the printer.

There are two different sizes of OMNI-CAT Winders to choose from: The standard OMNI-CAT, and the OMNI-CAT-XL. There are several major differences between these two versions of the Winder which are illustrated in the table below:

Standard OMNI-CAT Winders are used in the majority of applications, while the larger OMNI-CAT-XL Winders are made for use with oversized, and very heavy, rolls.

OMNI-CAT Winders are also available with several different types of core-holders. The standard configuration includes a mechanical Quick-Locking Core-Chuck for 3” diameter cores. An adjustable 1” – 4” diameter core-holder is also available, as well as a fixed 1” diameter core-holder. Adaptors for 6” diameter cores are also available.
